A monopod is something I recommend for every photographer. It’s one of those pieces of gear that’s good to have around the house, even if you don't use it constantly. I used to have a basic monopod that covered my needs as a photographer, but recently I started providing video services for my clients and it just couldn't handle the difference.

If you’re an event photographer or videographer, you probably know that moving fast is an absolute must. Therefore, using a tripod is out of the question. The monopod is clearly the best choice because it’s lighter, more compact and faster to work with.

Obviously, there are multiple options on the market, but we think we've found the best one. I recently came across a great video review of the Sirui Video Monopod. I can’t always say I trust video reviews because they tend to be a little too subjective for my taste, but this one, made by My CheesyCam, shines a light on the real-life needs of people who shoot stills and video for a living. Not only that, but the Sirui is presented alongside other monopods and by the looks of it, it’s a definite winner. Stability is obviously one of the most important jobs of a video monopod, and to achieve it, they use retractable legs. By logical deduction, the longer the legs, the more stable the monopod. The Sirui is a clear winner when it comes to stability and all you need to do is compare the length of the supporting legs to see this.

Build quality is also very important, and some video monopods on the market are built using quality materials. Premium quality is unmistakable and it’s also enjoyable to use. You can find it in the Sirui monopods and tripods.

Here are the full video and the blog post. We think it’s the best, but we'll leave it to you to make the right call.
