I'm excited. Why? Because I just got my first order from a new printing lab and it's awesome! Now, I have to admit I'm a little biased, because the subject of this shot is beyond awesome to me. Still,  this first experience with WhiteWall was so positive that I want to share it - and this picture - with everyone.

For those readers that don't know, I recently became a new dad and the little man in the photo above is my son, Caleb. Naturally, when it came to having a print made for my office wall, I wanted something special, so I took a look at WhiteWall.com and decided to order one of their metal prints.

What you're looking at there is a 42” x 28” image, printed directly on aluminum Dibond material with a matte laminate finish. It came ready to hang, with aluminum mounting rails and I can tell you that you really need to see this print firsthand to appreciate it.

What you can see in this shot is how clean this display looks on my wall. The depth of the mounting rails is perfect, creating just enough shadow to let the image “float” away from the wall. The frame-less mount suits my taste and office décor, well, although they have great-looking frames available for this medium, too.

I hope you can also see the rich tones in the print, from the deepest blacks to subtle, but clear whites. I was a little apprehensive about going with this treatment of a black and white shot, but I'm really pleased with the result. One of WhiteWall's claims on their site is “High-Tech Machinery Meets Craftsmanship” and when you see their product, you'll agree.

By the way, one of the biggest surprises about this order was the production and delivery time. I had this print in-hand in 5 days. To really appreciate that, you need to understand that this was imprinted in Germany. I guess that's the advantage they get with the high-tech machinery. I didn't expect that kind of turnaround, and considering the quality of the work, it really was icing on an already awesome cake. Take a look at the clip below for a glimpse of their facilities in action.

I can definitely say I'll be ordering from WhiteWall again. If you've been looking for a good print lab for metal, canvas, acrylic and standard prints, photo books or a whole range of other photo products, take a look at what they offer. Meanwhile, I'll be here, admiring that handsome little man in the photo.
