Ah, the great debate - which is better for portraits? A 50mm f/1.8 or an 85mm f/1.8? Both offer many benefits to the portrait enthusiast, including being lightning fast and super versatile, as well as producing sharp results.

But there are plenty of differences as well, including typical pricing (the 50mm is much cheaper) and weight (the 85mm is much heavier). Naturally, these lenses differ in terms of the distance you can be from the subject as well, with the 50mm requiring you to be closer to the subject.
