We’re all on a quest to create more compelling images, but sometimes it’s tough to know what changes to make to our approach that will have the most impact.

One crucial tip is to think purposefully about the angles you use in your photos instead of just pulling out your camera and firing away. It doesn’t require a ton of extra time - maybe just 10 or so seconds! For example, if you’re photographing an object that’s below your eye level, get on the same plane as the object. The resulting image will be more powerful because rather than looking down at the object as it’s normally seen, you offer the viewer a more interesting view.

Another thing to bear in mind is that you can make even the most mundane subject more interesting by shooting through something. That is, put a frame within the frame to bring more attention to the primary subject. What this also does is add bokeh or out of focus elements to the shot that enhances the visual interest as well.
