I'd imagine. Many of these caterpillars with stinging hairs have a venom gland at the base of each hair. The hair tip is fragile so breaks easily and injects the venom.

Not so big, about 4 cm. F 4.0 and not stacked. It turns out this is a rare one so I was lucky to see it.
