With more and more school districts throughout the U.S. shutting down amid the coronavirus pandemic, educators are wondering how they can best help their students continue their learning at home.
Adobe has announced that it will provide assistance via free at-home access to Creative Cloud apps to kids who only have on-campus access.
In an announcement, Adobe said that the move is to "facilitate distance learning" and that it would "make it possible to keep coursework, teamwork, and student progress on track through at-home access to Creative Cloud."
K-12 schools, colleges, and universities that pay for on-campus access must request that Adobe provide them with "temporary at-home access." That can be done here. Once Adobe has verified that the institution has a paid account, free access will begin and will last through May 31, 2020.

This free at-home plan came about from a simple tweet from a college professor asking for help.
In an interview with Petapixel, RC Concepcion, a Professor at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University notes that "we have been running around - as every other university - quickly coming up with an action plan to keep serving our students through COVID-19. Teaching communications, we rely on a huge amout of Adobe Software - reporters, cinematographers, photographers, designers. It dawned on me that a lot of student access was here at school and that with any students at universities, there would be many that couldn't afford using the software."
A huge thank you to @Malasharma and all of the folks at @Adobe for their willingness to help keep students connected and creative during #Covid_19 - at home access for free to them until May 31 is going to help soo many people. https://t.co/Yt9ne4JRYO #leadership

All Professor Concepcion did was get on Twitter, ask about free Adobe products, and just five minutes later Adobe VP of Creative Cloud Mala Sharma responded. Two days later, Adobe announced its free at-home access.
Thanks for being one of the good guys, Adobe!
