Photo selection process for client?

8 years 10 months ago #441027 by Ontherocks
You know, one of the biggest challenges I have is knowing which photos to pick for my clients.  I don't want to show them all the photos (as many are just bad), and picking which photos to go to the client or in an album is just time consuming and tough for me.  What your flow for doing such?

Your the photographer, the one with the vision for each photo.  There are no short cuts here.  We all are in the same boat.

I just delete any obviously bad ones and then get them to go through on lightroom doing a quick pick of ones they think are OK.

Then they can narrow it down from there.

One thing you can do is take less photos. :kmonst:

What are you doing when they aren't available to meet?  Are you making the selection yourself?

Hi Jason,
If you can get hold of Scott Kelby's book "Lightroom 5 for Digital Photographers",

kelbyone.com/product/the-adobe-photoshop...gital-photographers/

on pages 60-71, he covers this with an elimination workflow I (& many others) have used successfully for years. He explains how well Lightroom is set up for this with features allowing us to select, compare and put into collections and slideshows for clients.
If you're going to use Lightroom a lot, and you should, it may be worth your while getting the book. It's excellent. More information and tips than you can wave a monopod at!

Hope this helps, Cheers, Neil.
