Firstly - WELCOME to the PT photo forum .... there are plenty here with heaps of knowledge and skills ~ and who are willing to share with you
Windows is well known for (often) behaving like a teenager .... most of the time it behaves, but occasinally it sticks its heels in and refuses to play ball
If you have tried all "the usual" ways to upload, maybe you will have better success using a $10 USB-card reader device whereby you insert the camera card into the reader, then plug the reader into a USB port and let the computer take over from there (this is the way I have to do it with my Windows computer)
Once you have the images into the computer, then you can sort them into your "keeping categories" and albums so that you can easily recover them later
