No F stop reading when connecting lens to A7III

Hello everyone. I have not used my new Sony A7III very much, but today I noticed as I was prepping for a shoot in the morning - one of the metal contacts which connects the lens to the camera has retracted into the camera body (See picture #1 below). I have only been using Sony lenses on this camera and there is no reasonable explanation to this issue as no force has ever been used - and I have made sure to use the utmost care when attaching the lens to the camera body - taking high care in regard to general use of the camera. When I connect my Sony 50mm f1.8, or any other lens for that matter, there is no F stop reading and instead it is replaced with two hyphens (See picture #2).Please could someone be so kind as to advise on what this problem may be, and what I could do next? I have contacted the supplier (awaiting reply) and I am planning to contact Sony.It begs the question whether this would be worth finding a third party / approved Sony repair service for a quicker repair turn around - or whether I should wait to hear back from the supplier. If it is a simple fix, could I fix it myself? If you have read to the end, thank you. And thanks in advance if you respond.Chris.(picture 1)[img]blob:https://www.photographytalk.com/680f4f4f-3f67-43e6-b3f6-7a84411c6c07(picture 2)[img]blob:https://www.photographytalk.com/d114ac31-b337-4347-9289-e3123745f708

Hey Chris. I recently had similar problem with my Sony A7rII camera was reading the F-Stop i.e. The Aperture setting read as: F:00. Essentially, an F with two zeros. The sensor could not communicate with the lens hence could not set the Aperture setting. In my case it was the lens (Sony 24-70mm) that had the problem so had to send the lens to an Approved Sony Repair for repair. I reckon in your case it might be the sensor - however we both had the same issues.

Have you managed to get it fixed? What was the diagnosis?

Cheers.
Steve
