Is there an easy way to understand inverse square law?

This is true, except for alternating current electricity. AC operates on a different level altogether.

It is true for heat energy, light, sound, vacuum, air pressure, etc.

It is what it is.

should have added " propagation by radiation ". Electron transfer in a conductor is a different process.

Would you explain how vacuum and air presure follow the inverse-square law? The law models isotropic radiation intensity from a point source in a vacuum, so I am having difficulty connecting it to air pressure, or a vacuum.

You know John, I kinda started to question my response to you last night. I went back to my lecture notes from the term on lighting that was required to complete my electrical apprenticeship. It appears that the prof made a blanket statement regarding the forms of energy that fall into line with the inverse square law and he included air pressure and vacuum according to my notes. I will concede that he might have been speaking outside his experience, lol. :)

With best intentions, he may well have been. If you are interested, correspondence has come to light indicating that Robert Hooke (he of the springs...) had intuited the ISL simultaneously or a little before Newton presented it in the Principia.
