Who's using a grip on their Nikon?

Did you go with any brand other than the Nikon battery grip?  If there are alternatives that are reliable, please let me know.  I have seen some mix reviews and want to get the facts before making purchase.   Thanks

I use the Nikon grip on my D7100.  It adds a good bit of weight, but I prefer it that way.  The camera feels good in my hand and is easier to hold it steady. It very useful for portrait mode to have all of the controls still under your thumb.  Because of the price of the camera, I didn't want anything that was not 100% compatible. I use other brands of lenses and flashes, but with a battery grip I didn't want to take a chance.

3rd party tend to be okay, they just don't have weather sealing, which to me is a must. So I went with Nikon :)

I use no grip. Gets in the way of my permanently installed "L" bracket and makes it harder to pack. I like the smaller profile without it.....

Why so serious?

What's your need for having one?  Extra battery life for having the extra grip space?

Nikon D300 24-70mm f2.8
70-200mm f2.8
50mm f1.4 & 50mm f1.8
105mm f2.8
2 SB800

The only feature of a grip that appeals to me is an extra shutter release button. I seem, however, to be getting along just fine without that, and (single) battery life is outstanding. So, no need.
