How many equals what - dpi, mb, kb...

Again, Kelly's point is valid. DPI is a variable, that can be changed at ANY time. The only numbers that matter are the pixels (height by width).

I see that, hmm, no wonder I was confused. That would make more sense but it does say they want it max 300 dpi and 8". Don't ask me. My images show the size such as 1916 x 1323. Well guess I'll see where it goes from here. In the long run it won't matter if I'm submitting say 8 x 10 photos matted and framed. Thanks for the help guys.

Eight inches at 300 DPI is a 2400 pixel max. That's the important number to note.

After all that, we got it down to just one number!

There ya go. I should be w/in the parameters, and if not, live and learn. If one thing doesn't work out there's always another opportunity down the road.

the requirement was max 300 dpi

If that is their requirement, it makes very little sense.

I get it all the time from people in jobs I feel should know better. Recently I was interviewed for an student magazine. Someone called and asked be to send a photo of myself to accompany the article. "What resolution do you need?" I asked. "300 dpi." they replied. No indication of size. This is a person working in print and online publishing. Head smack! I figured the odds of them printing the photo larger than 5x7 were slim, so I sent them a 1500 x 2100 resolution photo.

Sad that ASMP is also doing it. But yes, the "idiocracy" is growing.

HP, help me please. I saw you get taken in by some moron web thinking about ND filters. Please, go to the light!

You have the skills. Don't let yourself be sucked in too!

We need you here with those of us who remember how to think.

Go back to college, MLK. Take Color Photography. They'll be glad to explain it to you.

Do you really believe that Schneider-Kreuznach doesn't know how to make a completely neutral filter?

Or that mass web sociopathy is "smarter" than science?

C'mon HP. I need you on my side. You're one of the few here that has gotten past gear lust.

The call to artists is done locally by the art center/gallery and I don't know that photography is necessarily their area of expertise. They host a regional annual exhibit by ASMP that tours. So ASMP doesn't have anything to do w/the local exhibit other than I think one of their members is a judge this year.

This does say max 8" and mine came up about 5 x7 and 4.5 x 6.5" so that should be w/in their guidelines.

You boys go back to your discussion, there's a Hitchcock movie on I'm going to watch and which might be less scary than you two.
