Odd things that I like to smell: Books and magazines when they are new.

 :agree:
I used to love that smell when they were fresh off the machine as a kid. I had one of the nuns slap me once for sniffing the paper. While I do notice the smell of new things, it does not do that much for me. The only smells that get me going are those of good food filling the house. Now that is something to get excited about.

My soon to be six year-old son smells EVERYTHING that goes into his hands.  He stepped it up a notch the other day when, as we were crossing a street, he dropped down to smell the painted lines of the cross walk.  I love the smell of a hot autoclave when I'm removing surgical instruments (my "real" job is veterinary medicine).  As a child I loved the smell of leaded gasoline....and no, I was never a gas huffer.

I don't think you are odd at all.

Favorite "odd" smells:

1.  New electronics
2.  New books
3.  Fresh cut grass
4.  New car
5.  Wood shop
6.  Gas getting pumped

No your not alone!

How could I forget about cut grass?  But I do like the smell of a new camera more!

I particularly like the smell of metal that's been ground or drilled. Reminds me of good times messing about in metalwork class.

I agree on the electronics, cut grass, but not on the smell of gas.  I do like the smell of new leather

The smell of leather is actually a perfume they put on it to mask the smell of dead animal (I am a trained leather worker).

Smell is just another sense to explore with. The next thing will be scented inks for photos to really set the scene :toocrazy:

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
