Making money with real estate photos

9 years 7 months ago #401150 by Benny13
I haven't get figured out my portrait 'eye' yet and would like to figure out how I might make some spare cash from my camera.  Does anyone happen to know if real estate companies out source to photographers for homes they are selling or do they have internal photographers taking these?  I have looked at home ads locally and the photos are blurry, poorly composed, or just don't have any or just one from the outside.  I think I could provide some value to realtors if I can figure out who would pay for my services.

Who would you approach?  The realtor agent or broker?

Thank you for your help.

Benny

Except for high end properties, most agents simply use point & shoot cameras . By taking the images themselves, they increase their profit line... On the high end properties, they will use paid photographers, but it's a hard to break into field & many of the higher end realtors are going the videographer route..... Good Luck if you try to break into this field !!!

And, lighting and photographing an interior is much, much more difficult (to do well) than it looks.

Sounds like you should focus on building your skills first, doing something you're interested in.

Why not just call up the brokers and realtors?

Where the money is at, is with virtual tours.  That is where I would focus on.

Yes but in order to use a drone, you need a very large one.  Those can run easy $6k+ for one that can hold your camera.

No, you get yourself a GoPro, which produces perfectly adequate footage. And doesn't need a significant drone.

True, you still need common sense though
