Will photos taken on a Nikon be viewable in a Canon camera?

I need to send some photos to a friend who has a Canon.  It's actually his memory card.  If I keep the photos on the card, will he be able to view them in his Canon?

Doubtful.  Should be viewable on his computer though, depending on what he uses for processing, what format the photos were recorded, etc, etc.....

Why so serious?

Well, that poses an interesting question. Certainly not RAW, but you might be able to create JPGs and give them Canon-like filenames in a Canon-friendly folder. You'd have to have your friend tell you what the folder names created by his camera look like.

Or you could just put them in DropBox or Drive and have your friend learn to use a computer.

I'm surprised, I thought a JPG is a JPG.  RAW files would be a different story

Yes Stacy a Jpg is a Jpg, but it is how each manufacturer writes their files in the camera that is different. This is why you format the cards in the camera. Also some of the models of the same brand will not read the RAW files, i.e older, and newer models for each other. At least that is true for Nikon which changes the NEF format all the time. Not sure how much Canon does this. It does not take much change in an algorithm to screw the pooch for sharing between cameras.

If you wanted to share on a memory card. Copy the jpegs to your computer then to a memory card.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
