This is a shot from an area called The Snake in Malibu canyons. I'm attempting to do panning to create motion blur.....Im happy with this photo but the success rate while shooting is about 450 bad shot per 1 good...lol....Very hard but rewarding in-camera trickery as opposed to everything in post.

G'day Stefan

Take heart matey ... most pros covering the Olympics reportedly shoot up to 20,000 images daily just to get 3 or 4 classic, great shots published

I think you can add yours to a [currently] short list of classic great shots

Nicely done.  I think 1:450 is a bit high ... way too high actually.  Is this your first attempt at panning? What are your settings?

There are photographs everywhere. It is the call of photographers to see and capture those images.

PS- I am a big fan of getting it 'Right in the Camera', (aka: as much right as possible), as opposed to manipulations in post.

I don't see anything technically wrong with the last two image.  Well done in fact!  I appreciate your high expectations ... that is how you get better.  But remember what Henri Cartier-Bresson said ... “Sharpness is a bourgeois concept”.

... But then again, Henri also said "Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst."

That is true Gary A........Not everything is sharpness, quite the contrary, blur certainly evokes feel of motion as well....if not more. This time around though my goal was to get the entire subject as tack sharp and in focus as possible.
