If you've been hanging around PhotographyTalk for any amount of time, you're probably familiar with our annual canvas print shootouts. We've done these for years as a service to readers, so you know which companies are worth your hard-earned money and which ones to avoid.
As a result of these shootouts, I've gotten tons of recommendations about companies to evaluate. Lumaprints is the latest, and it's the focus of today's review.
As you can see in my video above, I follow the same review format as I do for the canvas print shootouts - I unbox the print, do a first impressions review right there on camera, then evaluate it on a number of metrics, so you have a neat and tidy scorecard to view at the end.
So, the question is, how does this Lumaprints canvas stack up? Let's find out!

What is Lumaprints?
Lumaprints is a local outfit in Anaheim, California, not far from where I live. The company notes on its website that its canvases are made from archival grade, poly-cotton blend canvas for added durability and kiln-dried pine stretcher bars to ensure the print stays square and stretched tight.
What's more, Lumaprints frequently color calibrates its printers to ensure accurate colors for all prints. The company says that the colors on their canvases resist fading for more than 100 years, so you get a lifetime (and then some!) of viewing pleasure.
In working with the Lumaprints team, I found them to be knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile. For example, they offer a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee on their products. This is true whether you buy a print for yourself or if you're a professional photographer ordering prints to ship to your clients.
Lumaprints Canvas Print Packaging
The packaging the Lumaprints canvas print came in was very good. If you've seen my other canvas print reviews before, you know that some companies miss this detail and ship the print in a box that's too big or otherwise doesn't provide the appropriate protection from damage.
Lumaprints, however, put the print in a box that fit like a glove, so there was no chance the print could slide around during shipping. What's more, the large flaps on the box wrapped around the print to give it a little extra cushioning (on one side, anyway).
In addition to that, the print was wrapped in plastic to protect it from scuffing. It's a simple packaging setup, but one that worked well since the print arrived in perfect condition! Honestly, the only thing I would prefer to see is the print secured to the box, just as an added layer of protection.
Lumaprints Canvas Print Review
I'll start off by saying that this print is incredible, especially for the price point...
First of all, the frame is next-level good. As you can see in the video, I commented on how heavy it was as soon as I picked up the print. The beefiness of the frame is what gives this print such a solid weight, and that's a good thing!
The kiln-dried pine stretchers are put together beautifully and are square and true all the way around. As a result of this, the canvas is extremely tight. If you tap it with your finger, this Lumaprints canvas print sounds like a drum!
From a color standpoint, this Lumaprints canvas print knocks it out of the park. The licensed image I used for the image has a large swatch of bright orange and pink tones, and they jump off the canvas at you with beautiful saturation. The colors are also spot-on from an accuracy standpoint, which is exactly what you want when you order a print.
As I inspected the print, I could see no evidence of color banding or any other issues with the printing process. What's more, my inspection revealed a level of sharpness and detail that I honestly don't see that often in my canvas print reviews. That's one of the reasons I selected the image I did for this test - the tree is a perfect test subject for sharpness with all of those branches extending into the sky, and Lumaprints crushed the sharpness test!
So, what about the edges of the canvas?
As I mentioned before, the canvas is stretched well across the frame. The corners of the canvas where it wraps around the frame are further evidence of the quality of this print. Each corner is beautifully done with accurate cuts, no bunching, and no extra material protruding out.
The back of the canvas is well done, too. Again, the edges of the canvas are neat and tidy, and the stretcher bars are sanded with no splinters or rogue staples sticking out to snag your finger. Speaking of the staples, Lumaprints canvas uses plenty of staples to adhere the canvas to the frame, which furthers the canvas' tight stretch over the frame.
Ultimately, this print knocked it out of the park in all aspects. The colors are crazy good, the sharpness and detail are perfection, and the frame is mind-blowingly awesome. As I noted in the video, this print could easily go head-to-head with prints that are three or four times the price.
So, there you have it - the verdict is that this Lumaprints canvas print is well worth the price of admission. The question is, what does this incredible print cost?
Lumaprints Canvas Print Pricing
As I mentioned in the video, this print was only $31.16, which is an incredible price, especially given the quality of the print.
I can't stress enough the value for your dollar with this print. It is far and away the best budget canvas print I've reviewed. And as I just mentioned above, it could easily stand its ground in a comparison with prints that are far pricier.
With that said, I can't recommend this Lumaprints canvas print enough! If you're ready to order one for yourself, head over to their website to start the process today!
