Switzerland Photography—Beyond Spectacular

There are many Switzerland photos to take of indoor spaces—both historical and modern—but it’s all the natural beauty—lake, river, meadow, mountain and glacier—squeezed into one little country that will grab your attention and motivate you to take great Switzerland photography. Despite its size, Switzerland offers more natural wonders and vibrant, international cities that you could see and photograph in one visit. In fact, most of the lake and mountain vistas are so far beyond spectacular that you could stand in one place for days capturing different Switzerland pictures every hour. The light and shadows change quickly at these altitudes, providing you with limitless opportunities to record incredible Switzerland photography and further train your photographic eye.

In just three days, your Switzerland photography can capture many images of the Swiss lifestyle and the wondrous landscape in which the Swiss live and play. Your Switzerland photographic adventure begins in Lucerne, continues across the countryside to the Jungfrau region, and then into the Swiss Alps and the majestic Matterhorn. Lucerne is an example of a Swiss city that is architecturally sophisticated, but has also preserved its heritage in its Old Town. This is a place to stroll and sit in an outdoor café along the Reuss River, and take Switzerland photos of your surroundings. You can’t sit for long with Lake Lucerne and the nearby mountains beckoning. You can experience the Lake from an Art Noveau paddle steamer or hike for hours. Either way, you’ll be busy shooting dozens of Switzerland pictures.

Your three-day Switzerland photography trip continues southwestward to Interlaken. You may want to keep your hiking boots on your feet (and your digital camera in your hands) to trek through the Aare Gorge. For approximately two miles, you’ll follow an amazing path of great depth that has been carved by thousands of years of wild water. You’ll want to make another stop on the way to Interlaken that your kids are sure to enjoy, which makes for many spontaneous Switzerland photos. The Freilichtmmuseum in Ballenberg is an authentic Swiss farm that looks and operates as it did hundreds of years ago. Your kids will love the farm animals; and you can wander the gardens and fields adding this historical site to your Switzerland photography.

When you arrive in Interlaken looking for more spectacular Switzerland photos, you will be “between the lakes,” Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Enjoy the inviting atmosphere of Interlaken, but you’ll quickly turn your gaze to the towering Jungfrau Mountains. Make sure you ride the Jungfraubahn train to the highest train station in Europe, at a bit more than 10,000 feet. From there, you can take Switzerland photography of the dramatic north face of the Eiger. Board the Nostalgic Cogwheel Train to Schynige Platte, where you can capture more Switzerland pictures of the majestic Alpine range as well as the 500 different species of blooming plants in the Alpine Garden.

The final stop on your Switzerland photography trip is the village of Zermatt. Tucked into a high-mountain valley, Zermatt is dwarfed by the great peaks on all sides: Monte Rosa, Dent Blanche and Matterhorn. One train will take you to the 9,000-foot observation point on the Gornergrat, where you can capture “in-your-face” Switzerland photos of the Matterhorn. At a bit lower altitude, you can leave the train to hike through a high-altitude region of pristine and picturesque lakes. Then, it’s to Klein-Matterhorn, the Alps' highest viewing platform, by aerial cable car, where you’ll experience the feeling of being at the summit, and take your most spectacular Switzerland photography.
