Beginner. First pictures. Help!

3 years 1 month ago #713082 by Chevorelli
Hello,

I am very new to the world of photography, let alone 35mm film photography.

I have just received my first sleeve of developed photos. I have found a few errors on the pictures and was wondering what they were and how I better them the next time around.

I took my pictures on a Canon AT-1 with Kodak Gold 200.

I've attached a picture of the faulty pictures in the hope that someone can tell me how I've managed this.

Thank you, massively appreciated.

Tommy.

The attached picts show light leaks on the film. The used
camera back door does not seam to be light tight.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Sorry Tommy,  just noticed your newer post ,  with images .

Yes ,  NS is on the right track,  definitely signs of fogging ,  and  unfortunately  nothing can be done now  to fix that .
Possibly also some unnecessary light  has gotten on the film :
a )  in the loading of the film into camera or unloading film from camera  under bright light ,          or
b )  unloading film from cassette  or during loading into processing machine  in developing lab .   On that score ,  maybe not a competent lab ,  and  change  to a different  lab  for next film .

If the door is unaltered in its shape or infinitesimally is, then, possibly,
only the seals are dried and will need to be replaced by any experien-
ced gear technician

I did open the case a couple of times, not knowing that this was something you definitely shouldn't do..

Now that I know that, do you think its a good idea to perhaps try another roll of film without making that mistake? Perhaps from there I can see if the camera is faulty or just user error.

Thank you.

That would be a good idea to try another film AND not open
the back until the film is fully rewinded in its spool.

Yip, NEVER open the back unless you are sure there is no film in it.
To make sure there is no film in the camera, try to turn the rewind button more than two full turns without feeling tension.
It will turn easy continuously if there is no film inside.
