Cannot turn off the auto power off function

2 years 11 months ago #719043 by Luelaes
Hello Guys!

I want to use my Canon EOS1300D as a photobox camera and therefore I have to turn off the "auto power off" function.

I have found this option on my camera and I have disabled it.
For some unknow reason the camera is still shutting down after exactly 30 minutes and I have no idea why it is doing that.

Has anyone of you an idea what the problem could be?
I have sorted out the power supply (I already have tried it with different batteries).

Thank you for your help.

G'day Luelaes

As a new arrival to the PT forum ... WELCOME - there are plenty here with heaps of knowledge and skills able to help you when upi ask for some :)

Okay- you have been into the camera menu and turned 'off' the auto-power-off setting. all good there. The issue that you now have is the camera shutting down when you don't want it to.

-ALL- cameras will shut down at some point in time and the manufacturer has set that time in the design stage for that camera. It will be a compromise of their concerns that a) you might have forgotten to power 'off' so they will do it for you -or- b) they do not want delicate electronics to overheat and cause issues,

Bottom line- I cannot see any way that you can overcome this ... nor do I know of any modern digital camera that will stay 'on' "forever"

Hope this helps

I know of no one that would trade battery life for a for ever option!
When the battery is depleted, you have NO control on the camera.
Remember, this is electronic equipment.

Light is free… capturing it is not!
