Canon G12 .jpeg and .cr2 problem

1 year 3 months ago #748463 by toddmatheson
Hello,

My professional photographer friend helped me find and buy it.
She had configured the settings. Now in Cuba in the hands of my artist friend she can take pictures of her paintings and sell prints.
We need 5 MB pictures. The issue is that it captures 2 types of images at once, a 65 kB jpeg and a 12 MB cr2 that are useless.
How do we make it take one we want please?

Looks like this is an older post, but just in case you need the info here it is:

From your photo, it looks like you have it set to P or program on the top dial, so you're good there. Now press the Func Set button in the middle of the wheel on the back of the camera, which brings up a settings display on the left and bottom of the screen. Press down on the inside toggle just below the Func Set button (it has a symbol for self-timer) and move down till the RAW+JPG is highlighted. Now you will see on the bottom of the screen JPG   RAW & RAW+JPG. Just toggle to the left on the wheel till JPG is highlighted. Now the camera will record in only JPG mode. To set the size of the JPG to what you want, back to the left-hand side, move down to the next display, and select M1 as your JPG size; that says that the images will be 6MP, but that will vary with the images you take.

I hope this helps.
