Dori posted a BIF pic which I am still trying to figure out the best technique so here are a pair of Canada geese I shot. I welcome your critique!

The first one is my fav. Contrast against trees is always a problem and since you are shooting from a distance, shallow DoF is tough to get. I do ry to set up in a position where the background trees are not close to the birds.
I may take a couple of mine with trees in the background and mess with curves to soften the background. Thanks for the reminder.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

:agree: The first is my fav. And I may make it square by cutting off the top of the tree all together.
Thanks for sharing Bluesydude.

Not a bad idea to cut out the trees. I was thinking of the trees as a reference point. It looks like the consensus is shoot birds not trees. I appreciate your comments and time.

#1 is my favorite. What lens did you use on these shots?

The first cropped with only the birds would look much better, with the overcast conditions and no sun I would use +.3 ec to open up the image a little.Nice set still, not too often you get to shoot this lovely birds.
Good to see you are open to critiques.

Thanks for your recommendations. Besides being able to see the world through the eyes of others, the reason I am here is to share and learn from others. I truly appreciate it when someone takes the time as you did to critique.
