This lens and the Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM are both on sale at my local camera store (The Canon 50mm is priced at $439.99 CDN and the Sigma 50mm is at $549.99 CDN). I was thinking of getting one of them but my concern is that neither of them have the built in Image Stabilization. These shots look pretty sharp (were these auto or manual focus?). Have you had any problems so far with camera shake or is everything coming out pretty sharp.

Handsome pup by the way. I'm guessing Sheppard / Golden Retriever mix ?

A lack of image stabilization can be managed by good technique (practice, practice, practice) and a faster shutter speed. This may require a higher ISO as well, or more light.

The 2nd image appears to suffer from camera movement and is not sharp to my eye. The others are nicely done.

I'm going to have to look around eBay. If I can find free shipping in Canada, that might be the way to go.

Beautiful pups and nice shots of them.

Thanks Jeff.
