Crop Factor explained.... (D3500, DX lenses, etc...)

Woo-hoo... I finally got around to demonstrating the DX series cameras, DX series lenses, versus the full frame FX cameras, etc... (which are equivalent to rival Canon with the EOS Rebel line (APS-C) and their own full frame lineup).

All I had for reference was an old, old, seriously "old school" manual Canon 35mm SLR from 1979, but still, it would be considered Full Frame in todays Digital SLR era.

Be sure to pause the video right the end, and make note of the rectangle lines that I made with Photoshop.

So, the "old school" 35mm camera has the same 36 x 24 mm size
than the FF digital camera. Ok, you got that.

In your demonstration, the cropped sensor, being 23.5 x 15.6 mm,
captured an image area that is smaller compared to the FF sensor.

The difference between the two is the AoV — for angle of view. This
implies, had you used the same lens on both formats, that the crop-
ped sensor will take a smaller portion of the image projected by the
lens but does nothing in terms of focal length. You got that right too.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Thank you,  I read a lot of things where people bought a DX style camera or a Canon APS-C style camera, and were confused about different lenses...

50mm lens is a 50mm on a full frame camera.
50mm lens gives the perception of a 75mm lens on a DX style camera.

So, I decided to make a demonstration video.  Sorry if it is long winded and perhaps a little silly, but I hope it answers questions people have about DX lenses and FX lenses and the angle of view, sensor size, etc...

EDIT:  COULD SOMEONE DELETE THIS THREAD FOR ME?
