Has anyone used the AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED lens

I have a Nikon D750 Camera and have used other lenses with no problem, however, with this one I can not
get it to autofocus. I have set it to MA and AF, the autofocus beep is set to go off but it does not. Can anyone please help?
I can not find a Nikon specialist in the Buffalo NY area. Thank you in advance.

Try dismounting and remounting the lens. Also try cleaning the contacts. Was this bought new or used? From who? If the above doesn’t work, you may have to return it.

I bought it new from Samy's in LA. I tried dismounting and remounting the lens. Still no Beep. No Focus. I don't understand it although the manual says it goes into manual focus when you press the shutter button half way down of if you press the AE-L AF-L button down which happen to be the 2 ways that I auto-focus and get the beep! The lens cost $2,000! help! Thanks for your comment.

Hi Elisabeth,

when using the BBF feature, the SR should be disconnected
from the AF function… but that is a body thing and has not to
do with the lens.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

What is the BBF feature, and SR and how would I disconnect the SR from The AF function? Thank you for your attention to this. I really appreciate it

Thank you for following up. The situation remains as follows:I have a D750 camera and I just bought an AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED lensI can not set the aperture within the camera. I have to use the aperture ring on the outside of the camera to set the aperture. When I went to the camera store, the sales (Nikon) person put the lens on a Nikon D750 and he was able to change the aperture in the cameraso then I  called Nikon. Spoke with Luke1-800-645-6689Luke couldn’t figure it out either after an hour on the phone. I am taking a workshop in Sedona during the month of June.If the problem is not resolved after I return I will have to mail the camera and the lens to Nikon to see if they can figure out the problem with the gear in front of them.really frustrating…Thanks again for your interest. Elizabeth

Go back to the store with your camera and get the clerk to use it. If it won’t work correctly, have him try other lenses on your camera. If they won’t work then it’s likely a camera issue.

I know you said you did it with your lenses but by going to the store where you bought the lens will show them it’s not you but the lens. ( hopefully not the camera).
