Electronic vs mechanical shutter?

Does one have the advantage over the other?  Seems like there are pro's and cons right?

Silent?  Speed?  Go to electronic.

Slower, but ____________??  For mechanical

In modern cameras, yours and mine, the shutter is electro-magnetic
in its command and mechanical in its response. The electro-magnetic
makes for way more constant and precise timing but with some noise.
Our D810's are quieter than my D850 because of the different mirror
box construction. I don't mind noise nor moving parts — they protect
the sensor against bunnies due to the frequent lenses changes.

Electronic shutters are mainly found in mirrorless bodies, performing in
total silence — because there are no curtains — and can work at much
higher frame rate — 20~30 fps.

For me, in my operation, the electronic shutter does nothing I envy but
I would not contemplate a totally mechanical one as they were before.

The frames per second and silent shooting are the advantages of electronic shutter. Some cameras that suffer from "shutter shock" get a benefit from electronic as well by having a sharper image. The drawback with electronic shutters comes in when shooting fast moving objects. The read out speed is slower so the moving subject becomes elongated. You eliminate that with mechanical shutters. When the camera companies finally get the "global shutter" perfected and on the market, mechanical shutters will become unnecessary and will be eliminated from the newer cameras. It will be in top end models at first and work it's way down. The newer high end mirrorless cameras are getting real close to achieving this.

One often overlooked advantage of curtain shutters is the
bunny protection during multiple lens changes
