Challenge: Wait For Light - Get It Right

12 years 2 months ago #204340 by RogerS
Here's a challenge that does not involve new kit, or any additional spending. Find a scene you like, and take the shot in different natural lighting conditions.

The challenge is not to PP anything in, but to get it from the camera. There's no judging which one is better, just which one of yours you prefer. Try it.

Here's one I managed a couple of days ago, with a scene I watch daily. I shot the first in the bright morning sun and knew from experience that there was more in that scene that could be revealed in different lighting.

I waited for the warm red glow of the evening sun behind me to grab the next shot.

Let's see how you fare with your scenery.

Wow ! what a cool idea, Great shots :judge: May take a few days for me to try it, but I will

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

Good idea too!

Tis a good idea. Guess you would need a marker to get the exact same spot and a visual landmark to get the same angle along with a tripod to get the same elevation perspective.
This is sort of a time lapse with VERY long lapses.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

You may notice that these two were taken from the very same spot, but different zoom levels and slightly different focal points. However, your idea has good merit too, and I may try that for the next ones.

Thanks Darrell. The actual idea for this came from over 6 months of planning, and having some different aspects of the barn that were accidentally in different light. This probably will not be a one day result for most people.

Amazing what a difference the right light can make. Both images are nice but what a difference the colors make with the right light. Have some areas to try it with but will take time to be there at the right time.
