Camera got dunked in pacific ocean today. Am I completely screwed?

Why can't people turn their damn phone off?

If it's important, they'll call back.

I won't bore people with my life's challenges right now.  We all have them. However I will say I have a family member who is doing very poorly medically right now.  I took off from work to clear my head and always find peace when I'm on the water.  So that is why I went out, I picked up my phone because it was another family member giving me an update.

Normally I wouldn't even bring anything electronic in my kayak.  It was just one of those days.  :(

Unfortunate thing to happen.  I'll bet that won't happen again.  Sorry about your lose of gear.

Its probably too late and salt water is a killer of electronics, of course. However, had it been mine it would have been buried in a baggie of rice (no battery) quickly, and sent off to Nikon repair next opportunity. A quick dunk with a modern camera might have survived, but a serious cleaning would certainly be mandatory. I hope things improve for you......

Why so serious?

Well I got told today that my gear is toast.  Nothing can be done.  When I asked about repair, I was advised to buy used replacements as lesser cost alternative.
