Sensor heating up when shutter left on bulb?

Hey peeps, I was wondering if you leave the camera shutter open when on bulb, at what point if any do you need to start worry about the sensor getting damaged?  I remember seeing something about that and can't recall.  I'm working on some night time photography with star trails.

Thanks!

A piece of advice, star trails are better done when you take many short exposures, instead of one great big exposure, one of the reasons why is what you listed.

Short exposures eliminates your problem as well :)

What software would you use to combine all them after?  I have been wanting to do this too.
