Photography from the Olympics

Having started out with photographing sports, the genre holds a special place in my heart. Does anybody have any favorite shots from Rio, or any place that they've been visiting to see the best shots of the day? Likewise, if anyone has any interesting photography Olympics stories, feel free to share them here!

Not exactly sports photography, but I'm sort of a sucker for the images that show what sort of gear individual photographers are bringing (complete with a shot of the contents of their camera bags).

And it goes without seeing that that shot the Canon stockpile in Rio is practically unbelievable.

That's insane! So much beauty in one room haha. I'd love to get my hands on one of those lenses.

I've been really fascinated about a lot of the overhead and underwater shots that I've seen particularly from this year's Olympics. I found a pretty top notch article concerning the newest gear that Getty is using for the games in Rio.

The article on photo editors was really fascinating! Thank you for sharing that, as a part time photo editor myself everything it had to say rang true.

Also from the NY Times (but a different photo gallery), this image in particular really grabbed hold of my attention in particular. As much as I love action shots, I'm also really appreciative of the quiet moments that capture the beauty of the form and technique of each athlete. As the article implied, I feel that they do a really great job of curating images to add to the overall story of the Olympic Games.

Absolutely beautiful shot. The human body can be such a beautiful subject.

Not exactly the action packed images we're used to seeing around this time of year, but I found this collection to be very poignant.

Poignant is a really good word to describe these images. Although I love the Olympics as much as anyone else, I think that these images challenge the issues that come with hosting such a massive event.
