Yeti vs Trek vs Specialized mountain bike buying question

4 years 1 week ago #684743 by Kelly Lambert
I have a Cannondale that is 9 years old and it's due for retirement, I want to get out and just start breathing in some fresh air.  We have a number of really nice mountain trails that are only 7 miles from me.  I was going to pick up a new Cannondale, but decided to do some digging and found three other companies that seem to have some nice mountain bikes: Yeti, Trek and Specialized.  All I've owned are Cannondale, but I'm ok with another brand if better quality bike.

Can you comment on any of these other brands?

Nikon D700: 50mm, 14-24mm, 85mm, 105mm 70-200mm, 150-500mm (Sigma), SB-900

None of those, I have a Santa Cruz Bronson Carbon, I like it, Yeti is bad ass.  Specialized and Trek have been around for a super long time.

These are all good brands.  Being from Switzerland, I need to recommend a brand from here.   https://www.boldcycles.com/

These guys have a reasonable priced bikes, and very well constructed.  Worth the look if you haven't bought one yet.

I was just thinking about putting air into my tires and getting out on my bike!  I have a 12 year old Specialized, honestly I can't recall the name of this thing.  I remember it was like $1700 back in the day.  Mostly like worth only fraction of that now.  But it has been a good bike.  Might be due for replacement soon.  I know the chain and tires need some love.

I'm team Cannondale, my wife has been a Trek user for close to 10 years I want to say.  She's looking at coming over to Cannondale with me.

We are a cycling household, so I can give you some advice.  Jump on most reputable brand bike these days and ride it, you won't be disappointed.  What separates bike from bike is the ergonomics, suspension design and cosmetics.  And suspension is a 'what feels best for you'. So all of these brands that have been mentioned are super good.  I recommend, find something that visually and feels right for you.  You'll likely be not disappointed.

Canon 7D & 1D MK III, Canon 10-22mm, 16-35mm f2.8L II, 24-70mm f2.8L, 70-200mm f2.8L IS, 300mm f2.8L IS, 200mm f2L IS, 50mm f1.4, 50mm f1.2L, 85mm f1.
