Unsubstantiated Rumor Suggests Apple Is Developing a Point-and-Shoot Digital Camera
It’s no secret that the late Steve Jobs had targeted three industries for re-invention by Apple. Apple iBooks Textbooks for the iPad are already being developed and it has been assumed for some time that Apple is working on a television set. Now, however, there is noise in the marketplace that Apple has set its site on the third industry, photography, with the rumored development of a separate point-and-shoot camera.
Some speculation thinks that Apple realizes the iPhone and iPad are not the ultimate solution for a new generation of digital cameras. If Apple’s phone and tablet continue to become smaller and thinner, then they’ll never be capable of larger sensors or lenses. Apple doesn’t just want to enter the digital camera market with another choice, but make digital photography fundamentally simpler, so concepts, such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, etc., would be no longer necessary to understand or even parts of the user’s photography experience.
