Canon Introduces New EOS 60Da DSLR Specifically Designed for Astrophotography
Canon will be releasing its new EOS 60Da DSLR camera during April 2012. Available in limited quantities, the 60Da is built with features and functions that are critical to shooting the best astrophotography images.
It’s most noted feature is a customized infrared blocking filter. The standard filter in a DSLR prevents the reddish hue of hydrogen-alpha light gasses (656nm) from falling on the sensor. The 60Da’s filter permits approximately three times as much of H-alpha light to be recorded, so photography of spectacular nebulae is richer, sharper, more colorful and less diffuse.
In addition to an 18.0-megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 Image Processor and Vari-angle, 3.0-inch Clear View LCD display, the EOS 60Da includes Canon’s Remote Controller Adapter RA-E3. It’s compatible with the optional Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3, giving the astrophotographer more ways to control exposure times.
B&H Photo Video is accepting pre-orders for the new Canon EOS 60Da DSLR (body only) for $1,499 at http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Canon+EOS+60Da+DSLR&N=0&InitialSearch=yes.
