There are billions and billions of photos taken each year around the world.

With these quick tips, you'll learn how to make your photos stand out.

When Shooting Portraits, Take the Shot From the Subject's Eye Level

The whole point of a portrait is to help people connect with the subject.

To help people make that connection, shoot the portrait from the eye level of your subject.

Doing so gives the portrait a greater feeling of intimacy. It also helps the viewer get a view of the world from the subject's perspective.

This is a critically important tip for any portrait, but it's especially necessary when photographing kids.

Add Foreground Interest When Photographing Landscapes

When photographing a landscape, it can sometimes seem a flat with little dimension or definition. This is especially true if the scene is devoid of much detail in the foreground.

But by adding foreground interest, you can immediately improve the look of your landscape photos because it gives the shot that much-needed depth.

Additionally, you can think of foreground interest as the opening act of the shot - it introduces people to the scene and invites them to explore the image further.

Foreground interest can be just about anything - rocks or plants (as shown above), a winding path, color, light, or even well-placed people.

If your walls are bare, it's time to outfit them with big, beautiful prints. Start the process now.

Play With Perspective

Regardless of the subject you're photographing, it's important to alter the perspective from which you shoot from time to time.

This helps make your images more eye-catching for a couple of reasons...

First, since most photos are taken from the photographer's eye level, a photo that's taken low to the ground or high above the subject is more unique, and will thus capture the viewer's attention more effectively.

Secondly, experimenting with perspective gives you an opportunity to explore the subject and its surroundings more thoroughly. That, in turn, might reveal to you a much better composition than the one you thought would be the best.

It's this type of exploration and experimentation that will not only help you create a better photo, but it will also help you develop your creative eye and become a more adept photographer as well.

Print Your Photos Like You Mean It

I think an unfortunate consequence of digital photography is that many people don't think to have their photos printed.

Instead, it seems like a lot of us (myself included) have thousands and thousands of photos on our phones and computers and in our cloud accounts that seldom - if ever - see the light of day.

That's why it's so important to have your most special photos printed. You need to enjoy them!

I personally love to have my best photos printed on canvas.

There's just something about the subtle texture of the canvas that I really love - it has a classic and timeless look and it gives the photo a little depth and dimension as well.

Of course, when having your photos printed, you have to be careful what company you entrust with your photos.

I shopped around for years trying to find the ultimate canvas printing company, and after a lot of disappointment, I finally found CanvasHQ.

In the intervening years, I've order dozens upon dozens of prints from CanvasHQ, and each time they arrive at my door, I'm blown away all over again.

These guys use only the finest-quality materials - archival grade canvas, kiln dried wood, and commercial-grade inks that are designed for outdoor use.

The result of all that is a canvas that not only looks good, but will continue to look good for generations to come.

There's no worry of the ink cracking or bubbling, no concern that the frame will warp or bend. These things are rock-solid and look absolutely incredible!

So, if you want to take your photography up a notch, consider following these quick tips.

Each of these tips is easy to implement, and the results will have you saying WOW when you see your photos!
