Canon T7i

The Canon EOS Rebel T7i is the latest camera from the Rebel series, and it is primarily aimed at entry-level photographers. If you are making the first steps in becoming a photographer, this DLSR camera is definitely worth checking out. We also recommend you to check Canon M50 camera which is also a good choice if you are looking for mirrorless camera.

First of all, the Canon T7i has solid features for a budget camera, such as 24MP sensor, 45-point autofocus system, and 6 fps burst shooting. Moreover, this camera comes with a Feature Assistant interface which will guide your learning process and help you to use each feature in the best way.

Since it has a relatively low price, you can’t expect it to have professional specifications and a super-strong build. However, it will deliver very good image quality along with creative features that will make operating this camera easy and enjoyable.

It is worth mentioning that the Canon EOS T7i has different names in different markets. In Europe, it is known as the Canon EOS 800D, while you can find it as the Canon EOS Kiss X9i in Japan.

Canon Rebel T7i Body & Design

The Canon EOS Rebel T7i has a very similar design to its predecessor, the Canon T6i. It is relatively lightweight if we take into consideration that it is a DSLR model. The camera weighs 1.17 lb (including batteries) and measures 5.16 x 3.93 x 3.00 inches.

To frame a shot, you can use either an optical viewfinder or LCD screen. The optical viewfinder allows you to see exactly what you’re aiming at. Alternatively, you can use the rear LCD display (1.04 million dots) which is touch-sensitive and fully articulated so it will be very easy to shoot selfies or to record vlogs.

The camera has built-in Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth connectivity, so you can easily connect it to other smart devices. This is helpful if you want to transfer files or apply remote shooting. Also, it provides you with other interesting options such as to use your smartphone as a viewfinder.

Canon EOS Rebel T7i Build & Handling

Since it lacks environmental sealing, it’s not very wise to use the Canon rebel t7i in harsh weather conditions. The camera’s operating temperature is between 32 and 104°F. If you live in a very cold or very hot areas of the country, you should consider buying another camera model.

Although it lacks weather-sealing, the T7i is not especially fragile. Just keep it away from dust, moisture, and water, and it will be your friend for a long time.

When it comes to handling, the Canon EOS T7i is one of the easiest cameras to use. It is specifically designed for beginners in photography, so you shouldn’t have issues to make interesting photos even if you never used a DSLR model.

The EOS Rebel T7i comes with a user interface called Feature Assistant which helps you to figure out how to use camera settings. If you don’t have a lot of experience in photography, we suggest you use this mode since it will speed up your learning progress.

Canon EOS Rebel T7i Video Performance

Although it lacks 4K video capabilities, the Canon EOS T7i allows you to record Full HD (1080p) videos at up to 60 fps (in MP4 format). If you want to record videos in MOV format, the camera can shoot at up to 30 frames per second.

This is not all this camera has to offer when it comes to video. Its autofocus works smoothly in movie mode since it is benefitted by the inclusion of Dual Pixel CMOS AF and Movie Servo AF. Moreover, the T7i has Movie Electronic Image Stabilization which minimizes the blurring effect of camera shake. When it is enabled and used with a compatible Canon lens, Movie Electronic IS adds 5-axis stabilization.

As we already mentioned, the Canon EOS Rebel T7i has a fully articulated touchscreen which is convenient for creating vlogs and controlling the active autofocus area. Additionally, the camera has HDMI output and allows you add an external microphone using a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack.

Canon T7i Lenses

The Canon EOS rebel T7i uses the Canon EF lens mount. There are many types of Canon EF lenses on the market which means you shouldn’t have a problem finding a perfect lens for yourself.

If you are not sure where to start with, we suggest you try with the following:

  • Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM – One of the best prime lenses Canon makes. Great for low-light shooting and various types of photography, including architecture, street scenes, and landscapes.
  • Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM – A nice zoom lens with incredible reach. With the crop factor, this lens has an effective focal length of 88-400mm, great for sports and wildlife photography.
  • Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM – One of the best value lenses money can buy. This is the first lens many Canon shooters buy. It’s versatile, has a large aperture for low-light shooting and nice bokeh, and it works great for shooting video.
  • Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM – If you like to photograph landscapes, this is one of the best wide zoom lenses you can use with the T7i.
