FujiFilm X-T5: Overview

The FujiFilm X-T5 launched at the end of 2022 (replacing the X-T4) and has been absolutely flying off the shelves ever since. It combines a state-of-the-art 40.2-megapixel APS-C sensor with an advanced X-Processor 5 image processing engine to make it hands down one the most powerful APS-C cameras in history.

While it maintains the same portable and compact size as its predecessor, it’s 50 grams lighter, making it a better choice for travel photography, street photography, and vlogging. Additionally, it still has three exposure dials on top of the camera, which has long been one of FujiFilm cameras' trademarks and most popular features.

Other noteworthy features include an upgraded autofocus (AF) system, fast burst shooting, 6.2K video capabilities, a tilting touchscreen LCD, and a high-resolution OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF).

Now, here’s an in-depth look at the FujiFilm X-T5 specs and key features:

FujiFilm X-T5: Imaging Capabilities

Courtesy of its high-resolution 40.2MP sensor, the FujiFilm X-T5 is one of the only APS-C cameras capable of replicating the image quality of full-frame cameras. In fact, we’ll go as far as naming it one of two APS-C cameras (the other being the FujiFilm X-H2) we’d recommend to professional photographers.

The CMOS image sensor of the X-T5 also boasts a BSI (back-side illuminated) design, which significantly enhances the camera's low-light performance. Paired with its best-in-class 64 - 51,200 ISO range, the X-T5 turns what has historically been one of the biggest weaknesses of APS-C cameras (low-light shooting) into a strength.

We love three other imaging features: the speedy continuous shooting, creative film simulation modes, and the beautiful Pixel Shift Multishot mode. Continuous shooting tops out at 15 fps, making it a solid choice for action and sports photography. The 19 Film simulation modes give your images a fun, retro feel. And the Pixel Shift Multishot mode captures 20 frames which you can later stitch together to create a super-high-resolution 160MP photo – ideal for landscapes.

FujiFilm X-T5: Video Capabilities

The video performance of the FujiFilm X-T5 is where it sees the most drastic upgrades over the X-T4. The X-T5 can now capture breathtaking 6.2K video at 24 and 30 frames per second. On top of that, it records beautiful 4K footage at up to 60 fps and 1080p/240p super-slow-motion video.

More powerful video specs include 4:2:2 10-bit color, external RAW video recording, in-body image stabilization (IBIS), and 2x digital zoom. IBIS is a must-have tool for filmmakers and documentarians because it lets you capture handheld video with minimal camera shake. At the same time, digital zoom provides extended reach and doesn’t significantly affect video quality.

Lastly, the battery life of the X-T5 is much better than most mirrorless cameras, and the dual memory card ports allow you to shoot uninterrupted for longer. If you only shoot video, we recommend the FujiFilm X-H2 because of its 8K video capabilities.
