As a beginner photographer, you have a lot to learn.

In fact, you might have several years under your belt of learning photography concepts, but getting over the hump and becoming a more confident and capable photographer can sometimes be elusive.

So, the question is this: how to take photos like a pro?

Make no mistake - there are about a million things that pro photographers do that beginner photographers don't. Yet, there are a few essential things that you can do to learn how to take photos like a pro.

Of course, learning how to take photos like a pro isn't just about learning creative and technical skills. You also need to make the time to get out there with your gear, take lots of photos, and study the art of photography.

What's more, as Mark points out, you need to commit yourself to patience. Becoming a really good photographer takes a lot of time and energy. You'll have long nights, early mornings, and TONS of frustrations along the way. You just have to remember that the disappointments and the hard work pay off in the end when you start to put it all together to create some truly incredible images.

There's something to be said for persistence, too, as you learn how to take photos like a pro. It's easy to get frustrated. It might be even easier to get disappointed in yourself or the results you're getting. But as the old adage goes, practice makes perfect. If you aren't ruthlessly persistent in your endeavor to become a better photographer, the results you want likely won't come.
