A few weeks back, I reviewed the LitraTorch 2.0, which is a fantastic little light that is a do-anything, go-anywhere companion for videographers and photographers of all skill levels.

I was so impressed with it that I decided to get my hands on its big brother, the LitraPro, and give it a thorough testing as well.

The biggest question on my mind when I got the LitraPro was “how can this be any better than the LitraTorch 2.0?” After all, that little light set the bar awfully high…

In this LitraPro review, get the scoop on just how good this light really is.

LitraPro Specs

The LitraPro uses 60 LEDs to create a truly incredible amount of light for something that’s 2.75 x 2 x 1.2 inches and weighs a scant 6 ounces.

In fact, this light has 1200 lumens of output, that, like the LitraTorch 2.0, is beautifully clean, crisp and flicker-free.

The LitraPro has a 95 CRI, is bi-color, and an adjustable color temperature from 3000K to 6000K. The 70-degree beam angle ensures that you get broad coverage of light as well.

The light has dual industry standard ¼ 20 mounts and is waterproof up to 90 feet. MIL-SPEC 810 testing ensures that this rig is rugged and durable, too.

Battery life is impressive as well. At max output, you’ll get about an hour of run time. On low output, that extends to over 10 hours.

Add in Bluetooth control, an OLED display, and full dimmable control from 0-100%, and you have the makings of a highly capable light that fits in the palm of your hand.

LitraPro Build Quality

One of Litra’s best attributes is that their products are built like tanks.

When you’re investing in a light that you need to take on your photography and videography adventures, having something that’ll stand up to use and abuse is a must-have.

The LitraPro certainly fits the bill.

As noted above, this thing has been MIL-SPEC 810 tested, meaning it’ll stand up to shocks, drops, thermal variations, and salt spray. In other words, you can rest assured that it will outlast all your other camera gear! See this little guy in action in the video below:

I’ve used the LitraPro in pretty heavy rain without issue, which makes sense given that it’s waterproof up to 90 feet. Heck, even the USB port is waterproof!

I typically photograph landscapes, so there’s been some rough and tumble adventures with this thing as I’ve sought out ideal spots for some night photography and light painting.

I can tell you from firsthand experience that the LitraPro can handle the bumps and bruises of travel and a few accidental drops here and there. True to form, it’s a beast that can handle hard work!

LitraPro Functionality

No matter what you need to use the LitraPro for, it’s got you covered.

Use the DSLR mount to attach it to your camera or opt to attach it to your GoPro with the included GoPro mount. The two ¼ 20 mounts give you a third option for attaching the light to a tripod as well.

Perhaps the best function this light has to offer is Bluetooth connectivity.

Using the accompanying smartphone app, you can turn the light on and off, control brightness, adjust color temperature, and even create and manage a group of lights.

That’s a handy feature to have for any photography situation, but if I photographed weddings, you can bet I’d have a handful of these things at strategic points throughout the venue so I could get high-quality light and adjust it as needed right from my phone.

Obviously, its tiny size helps in the functionality department as well. Running and gunning is certainly an easy task when you can have a 1200 lumen light in your shirt pocket.

LitraPro Performance

Of course, specs and functionality don’t matter if the performance isn’t there. But in this case, this rig performs beautifully.

The 1200 lumen rating extends to over 9.5 feet, so you don’t have to be right up in your subject’s face to get good light.

The 70-degree beam angle provides wide coverage of flicker-free light at all shutter angles. That flicker-free performance is found when dimming the light as well.

In testing, I’ve found that the LitraPro has no green spike and its enhanced red performance offers beautiful skin tones when taking portraits. See what other reviewers have to say about this light in the video below:

Though I don’t typically use the LitraPro at full power, it would be nice if the max output battery life was longer than one hour.

That said, the 10+ hour battery life on the low setting is fantastic.

As noted above, the companion app is incredibly functional for controlling the light (I’ve only tested it using one light at this point). The app is easy to use, intuitive, and makes quick work of making needed changes.

I appreciate the OLED display on the unit as well. It’s clear and easy to read, even if low-light situations.

LitraPro Review: Final Thoughts

I’m a big fan of Litra because they make products that are durable, easy to use, and perform well. The LitraPro is no exception.

The light output of this thing is simply incredible, and with the option to adjust brightness and color temperature, the possibilities are endless for using this light for photography and videography.

The kit comes with a dome diffuser, the aforementioned DSLR and GoPro mounts, a USB charging cable, and a carrying case. You can also purchase additional accessories - gels, honeycombs, barn doors, and softboxes among them - to increase the functionality and performance of the LitraPro even further.

I’ve used my fair share of big, complicated, expensive lighting gear in my day, but given the choice, I’d much rather deploy a few of these bad boys when I need lots of light.

The durability, ease of use, and functionality of the LitraPro is simply too good to pass up! And with a price of about $220, it’s a good deal too.
