How to impress your photography clients in 5 easy steps. Catchy title, isn’t it? The important photography business tip is that you really want to impress your photography clients in order to have them help you get more clients. Satisfying your clients is absolutely essential, but to get them working for you, you have to impress. 

To impress your photography clients, you have to get them excited about you and your work. To impress them, your work has to be more than good enough, it needs to stand out. If you’ve been wondering, too, how to get more clients, these photography business tips will give you some ideas.

Be a Total Professional

Being a professional photographer is more than taking pictures and getting paid for them. In order for you to impress your photography clients, you should act like a professional in every aspect of your interaction with them.

Many times when someone hires a photographer, they’re looking for more than just good pictures. They’re wanting someone to take them from no pictures to having great pictures without having to think about the process.

Your attitude as a professional is the one biggest factor in this. From beginning to end, the experience for the client needs to be painless and worry free. If the client wanted stress about their photos, they could’ve done a substandard job all on their own. So, exude professionalism.  

From the initial phone call or e-mail to the final delivery of images, be friendly, calm, and knowledgeable. When a client remembers you, they should be feeling that same calm satisfaction about the process as you provided during the photography process. Then, when a friend asks them about the photos, they will be doing advertising for you and your brand.

Ask Them Questions

Asking your own questions of them will impress your photography clients because it shows that you want to give them the best photography experience possible. We’re used to our clients asking us all sorts of questions, but when we ask them questions it gives them the opportunity to fine tune their expectations.

When we ask for specific information, it allows us to tailor our shooting to exactly what the client wants and needs, making the final product much more likely to stand out in their minds as a great memory. Those great memories transform into their speaking to others about how much they enjoyed their images and the entire process.

Give Them High-Quality Prints

It may be the digital age of photography, but physical prints are still a desired end product for photography clients. It’s fun to share pics on social media or in emails, but nothing says professional image quite like a super high-quality physical print.

If you are going to impress your photography clients with physical prints, the prints need to be amazingly high-quality. It doesn’t hurt to also be providing something out of the ordinary as the prints instead of your basic matted paper print inside a frame.

We’re not talking about a grocery store card, what we mean here is to reward your loyal client with loyalty in return. If you want to impress your photography clients for a long time and create repeat business,  give the customer something to show appreciation for either coming back to you or for steering someone else your way.

You may be tempted to give them a branded gift with your business name on it, and that’s fine. But make it something of real value for them. Did you provide physical prints? Maybe a cell phone case with their image on it, or a desktop display of a print. Wall calendars are popular options, provided they have their images on them. 

Another option that will impress your photography clients is offering a bonus pose or print for referring someone to you or coming back themselves for another photoshoot or purchase.

Follow Up

This photography business tip will work with any genre of professional photography you’re providing your clients. Thank you cards are an excellent option as are follow up emails. 

An idea that will be sure to impress your photography clients is sending them a bonus some time after the job completion. Your business model needs to support that type of spending, though, so you may not want to do this with every single client you have.

You could also engage with them on social media, though that can be a two edged sword if the client has any issues with your professionalism. If you’ve done these other tips well, though, it shouldn’t be an issue. Ask for reviews on your page or website or include them in a blog post.

Impress Yourself, Too
