The Colorize filter ‘Inks’ your image with a color overlay and includes six different methods that vary the contrast between the color layer and the original image. This can create very stunning results.

To begin, let’s take a look at the six different Methods. By simply hovering your cursor over each of the Methods, the image preview will update to give you immediate feedback of what each particular Method does. These Methods can create very subtle and monotone effects when using the default options.

There are two different ways to change the color to add to your image.

1. Select the Eyedropper and click on a color within the image

or

2. Click on the Color Patch to access the Color Picker and select a custom color

To increase the intensity of the color overlay, move the Strength slider to the right. You can remove the color entirely and create a gray-scale image by moving the slider to the left to 0%.

Tip: One of the new features in Color Efex Pro 4 is the ability to stack filters. Click on the + Add Filter Button and then click on one of the filters from the Filter list on the left panel. This enables you to add multiple filters without having to exit out of the interface window. Experiment with combining different filters such as Darken/Lighten Center to help guide the viewer’s eye to where we want them to look in your image, or polish your image by adding one of the new Image Borders.

Bonus Tip: You can also Shift+Click on a filter without having to select the + Add Filter Button. This will save you an extra click!
