With the discovery of the photographic process and the invention of cameras, humans were first able to capture a single point of time and preserve it. The capability of photography to freeze time attracted the interest of the scientific community; and with the development of special cameras and strobes, scientists were able to enter, view and preserve a part of the natural world no one had ever seen: the movement and actions of objects at high speeds.

Images such as these have been the privy of the scientific community for many decades. Individual photographers could never afford the high-speed cameras and strobes – until now. The Ax3 Controller from Amberpixel, a Portuguese company, puts the world of high-speed movements and actions in the hands of any digital photographer with virtually any camera or flash unit – and at an affordable price.

Wow your family and friends, make your photo buddies jealous and upload amazing photos to your PhotographyTalk Gallery that will generate plenty of “likes.” With the Ax3 Controller and its programming features, you’ll be able to photograph a single drop of water suspended in midair, the splash of water onto a surface or the collision of drops of water. With a maximum sync speed of one-millionth of a second, all the movement will be solidly frozen and clearly defined. Use the Ax3 Controller in natural settings, capturing amazing streaks of lightning across the sky or the wings of a hummingbird or bumblebee. Now, your digital photography imagination is able to go wild! The Ax3 Controller allows you to invent new equipment setups in many environments and with many objects and subjects to create truly otherworldly photos.

Technology has advanced so far that the people at Amberpixel were able to reduce the controls of high-speed photography to a portable unit that is just 5.8” x 3.5” x 1” (147mm x 88mm x 25mm), weighing only 6.3 oz. (180g).

What makes the Ax3 Controller work is its four synchronized shooting firmware: vibration trigger, sound trigger and two infrared trigger programs, which read either the slow or fast movement of objects. You control when these programs will trigger your flash or camera by selecting one of 10 settings. The Ax3 technology is so versatile that you’re also able to select a delay of milliseconds. The controller doesn’t trigger your camera and/or flash until the time you’ve designated.

Another firmware (time-lapse timer) in the Ax3 Controller is a creative video tool. Program the controller for a time lapse between each frame in a sequence of images (you choose the amount). The controller will then do the work, giving you the images to edit together in video software and creating a “movie” with a unique look.

Amberpixel’s Ax3 Controller also includes additional firmware: lightning detection, sequential shooting with aperture priority for night exposure HDR images and SLR and flash remote cable control.

The Ax3 Controller is compatible with a long list of camera brands, including certain models from Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Pentax, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Leica, Olympus and others. These can be found at http://www.amberpixel.pt/en#!__en/products/vstc15=page-2/vstc12=page-2.

The Amberpixel Ax3 Controller comes with a sound sensor, vibration sensor, infrared emitter and receiver and an adapter-type jack 2.5” “male” to 3.5” “socket.”

You can order the Ax3 Controller directly from Amberpixels for 360 Euros at http://amberpixel.com
