In the general equation of photography gear, the computer is at least as essential as the camera or the lens. Storage and editing require impressive figures and performance. With the latest development in camera technology , there is also an increase in RAW and DNG file size. Other than massive storage space, that means a need for enough speed and power to process these files. A high end commercial or fashion photographer can end up with a 3GB PSD file.

Needless to say, one of the key components in working with Photoshop or other editing software is the display. Finding the perfect balance between brightness, color tones, detail sharpness and shadows is a lot easier when using a proper display. You might have performance and can stack up large files without a problem, but if your display isn’t offering you a correct view of your photos, you might not get what you’re looking for. On the contrary, a good display with moderate performance will leave you frustrated about work speed. Some professionals prefer mobility and like to take their digital darkroom with them, while others enjoy sitting at a desk in front of a large display. We’ve compiled a list of 11 great computers, both laptops and desktops, that every photographer would love to have.
