In photography, the location is often as crucial, or even more important than light. Landscapes are, in a way, portraits of our planet. But the following, short list is not only intended for landscape photographers. You might be a fashion or a portrait photographer. You probably know the importance of a good setting. It can mean the difference between a good photo and a bad one. Just like a model. It can be a good, photogenic one, or an average one, that people are used to and isn’t so interesting. Finding a good location isn’t always easy. It takes some effort, it takes traveling and most of all it involves getting your physique of the couch. Once you get to an interesting location, the worst thing you can do is settle for what is immediately there. It would be like taking a fast car for a drive in the parking lot. When you get to a beautiful location, you should make the best of it, explore it and make sure you find everything that is hidden. Seek local knowledge, but don’t settle for that. Spend as much time as you can in a beautiful location, and if you are on a vacation, return to a site or an attraction that you once visited. This is the kind of place that you can’t really find a lot on this planet anymore. It is a place where people still live of the land, hunting, gathering, like they’ve been doing for thousands of years and unaware of how other cultures do it. Alaska is one of, if not the wildest place in America. It is an absolute paradise for both landscape and wildlife photographers. It is also an unforgiving land, and even for the most seasoned adventurers, danger is at every corner. So make sure to take every precaution necessary, from wild animals as well as from the elements.

The Danube is the second longest river in Europeand at some point flows into the Black Sea. That place is called the Danube Delta and it is one of the most wild places on the continent. It is the natural habitat of many endangered bird species and it offers an incredible landscape that is a combination of narrow water ways, vegetation and fishermen’s villages. The natives live a lot like they did hundreds of years ago, with a diet that consists mostly of the fish they catch.

Tuscany is amazing place that combines a lot of extraordinary elements. New York City is the heaven of all street photographers. It just doesn’t get any better than this. It is an ongoing spectacle of the human race in all its diversity, in all shapes, sizes and colors. For the untrained eye it can even be too much in the beginning and you slowly have to start filtering the photogenic subjects, but believe me, it is a task that’s far from easy. It is life, culture, energy and everything else you can imagine.

Vietnam is one Asia’s most interesting locations to visit. It is rich with history, and not just because of communism and the war in the ‘60s and ‘70s, but because it is actually a very old civilization full of different influences. Nature is also amazing there, with beautiful beaches, forests and mountains.

8. Coral Triangle, Greater Indo –Pacific Region

The name refers to an area that covers the somewhat triangular area of the tropical marine waters of Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste. Basically, if you have a love for underwater photography and everything alive under the surface of the ocean, this is the place to checkout. It is home to a many rare species of fish, turtles and corals.

There probably aren’t a lot of other places in the world where barbers cut hair in the street, monkeys eat from the same table as humans and there is so much color everywhere you look. Namibia is also one of those pales that need a lot of courage and adventure spirit to go to. Why? Some say you might have to fly for hours in a row across the land without seeing any sort of tire track. It is a beautiful, incredibly photogenic; dramatically light no man’s land. And an absolute paradise for brave landscape photographers.

To be fair, this is kind of a niche location, and certain affection for volcanoes is recommended because otherwise it might seem like a smaller version of hell on earth. A beautiful hell to be honest, but nevertheless a fiery, unfriendly landscape. Oh, but the photos you could take there…

It is the name of the southern end of South America. It is shared by Argentina and Chile .It is however a place where nature does its thing without being interrupted by man. It’s the kind of location that stretches across huge distances and often the only thing filling these spaces is silence and sheer beauty.

Ukraine, as most of the countries that were once in the former communist bloc, is the place to be for history fans and courageous photographers. There is a lot of history in everything around there, and besides a natural landscape that is very easy on the eyes, it’s the ruins of the former Soviet Union that fascinate and attract a lot of photographers. Starting with abandoned submarines bases, turned into museums and ending with the one and only Chernobyl.
