No photographer has a constant life of success without failures. The fact that you don’t see them is a different story, but don’t think that famous photographers never went home empty handed. It happens to the best of us, regardless of talent or experience. Of course, as human beings, one of the best things we are good at is finding excuses. Here are some of the most popular excuses for coming home without the good photo.

  1. I had the wrong lens mounted on my camera.

  2. They were towing my car.

  3. I forgot to shift my lens from manual to autofocus.

  1. The DJ forgot to give me a heads up.

  2. The bride forgot our agreement and threw the bouquet at two, instead of three.

  3. My memory card had bad sectors on it.

  4. I was checking my settings before I had the time to see it happening.

  5. I forgot the camera on ISO 1600.

  6. A friend borrowed my camera this weekend and forgot to set the viewfinder diopter back.

  7. The moment wasn’t that great. I have seen better.

  8. The camera was in my bag and I had no time to take it out.

  9. I tried to capture the moment with my phone first, for Instagram.

  1. A drunken guest got in front of the lens just when I pushed the button.

  2. The rain and cold must have ruined my autofocus.

  3. The LCD brightness was set higher than usual so I thought the exposure was correct.

  4. I couldn’t afford a stabilized lens, otherwise this wouldn’t have happened.

  5. I just bought a new battery and apparently it is malfunctioning.

  6. Everything happened a half a second after I took my lens off for changing it.

  7. I was at the bathroom.

  8. I felt sick all morning and I couldn’t really concentrate.

  9. My wife/husband and I had a fight and that was the only thing on my mind.

  5. I left my glasses at home and couldn’t see right.

  6. Everyone kept talking and I was distracted.

  7. The bride was a bridezilla and all I wanted to do was throw the camera at her.

  8. It was raining and I didn’t want to damage my gear.

  9. My phone didn’t have enough battery to start the camera.

  10. There was no flash allowed in the church.

  11. I left my tripod at home and my camera has really bad ISO.

  12. Some guys were looking at us like they wanted to fight or something.
