Timelapse photography often gets a lot of oohs and aahs, as it should. The way that you can seemingly travel through time gives you a new perspective, even on the most commonly photographed locations.

I’ve tried timelapses before, and let’s just say I haven’t shared any of them on my social media accounts. In a word, they were terrible.

Part of the reason I’ve failed in the past is that it was just an overly complicated process to create the timelapse in the first place. First, I tried a timelapse with a camera that didn’t have built-in interval shooting. I had to rely on my ability to count the seconds as they ticked by without getting sidetracked.

That didn’t work.

Then I tried a new timelapse with a basic intervalometer, and while it was miles easier than trying to get the timing right on my own, the intervalometer lacked any other usable features.

So, I gave up on trying to create timelapses, that is until I saw a new product - Pulse from Alpine Labs - that made me give timelapses one more try.

Man, am I glad I did!

That little gadget pictured above is Pulse. Don’t let its diminutive size fool you. At just 40x60mm, it’s small enough to carry in your pocket, but powerful enough to help you create stunning timelapse videos of any subject. It plugs into your camera via the USB port, attaches to the camera on the hot-shoe mount, and gives you wireless control over your camera from your smartphone.

Whether it’s your first timelapse or your 100th, Pulse has the tools to make your vision a reality. Set the interval and duration with a simple tap of your phone’s screen. Monitor your camera’s buffer and get notifications of a low camera battery as well. Pulse even has a feature called Exposure Ramping, which allows you to adjust the ISO and shutter speed on the fly so you can create day-to-night timelapses with much greater ease - and much better results.

Check out the incredible videos you can create with Pulse:

Trigger your camera remotely. Start and stop video. View and save image thumbnails to your phone in real time. Control up to three Pulse-enabled cameras all at once. This isn’t just another fancy gadget that does one or two things - Pulse is an all-inclusive package that allows you to take professional timelapse videos. Heck, you can even take selfies and create long-exposure images too!
