Sony a7 III Specs

To begin with, we must say the Sony a7 III has great image quality. It is built around a new version of the 24.2-megapixel Exmor R™ CMOS sensor with BSI (Back-Illuminated) technology.

Although the sensor is similar to the one that was used in its predecessor, the a7 III has a front-end LSI chip and the updated BIONZ X image processor which enhance data readout speed and data processing capability.

The Sony a7 III offers a native ISO range from 100 to 51200 (expandable to ISO 50-204800) and produces good results even while shooting at high ISO because of Area-specific Noise Reduction technologies.

The camera is able to record 4K video across the full width of the full-frame image sensor. It captures up to 30 fps in UHD (4K) and 120 fps in full HD. The only bad thing is that it has the 30 minute limit on videos.

The camera weighs 33.3 oz and has dimensions of 5.0 x 3.8 x 2.9 inches, so it's a small rig that packs a big punch.

The Sony a7 III Has Superb Autofocus Capabilities

The camera uses Fast Hybrid AF. It boasts 693 phase detection AF points covering approximately 93% of the image area, plus 425 densely positioned contrast-detection AF points.

The focus can be controlled via touch-screen LCD monitor and it will maintain precision at brightness levels as low as EV-3. There is also Eye AF that will make the process of making portraits much easier.

Because of its speed, the Sony a7 III can also be a good tool for wedding, sport, wildlife or event photographers. The camera can shoot in a continuous burst at up to 10fps with AF/AE tracking, and up to 8fps burst shooting when shooting with live-view mode.

If you don’t want to draw attention to yourself while shooting images, there is an option for silent shooting at up to 10fps with AF/EF tracking. This is convenient if you want to take images of wild animals, or if you cover an event that demands silence.

The camera also has 5-axis stabilization so you don’t have to worry about blurry images when shooting handheld.
