About the Project:

Armed with his trusty Canon 6D, a Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 lens and a Syrp Variable ND filter, Shawn Ogulu has made a name for himself with his particular style of landscape photography, namely his long exposure work.

Shawn was drawn to long exposure having seen a photo of light trails going down a street from a moving car. Hooked, Shawn taught himself how to use a DSLR and started to document the land and cityscapes of his home country, South Africa.

Now testing the waters with time-lapse photography, Shawn found it a natural progression from his own landscape photography style. Taking on tips from Youtube tutorials, tagging along with time-lapse-savvy friends and a little bit of trial and error has seen Shawn transfer his unique style to motion time-lapses with the help of the Syrp Genie Mini.

His understanding of shutter speed and light allows Shawn to create a super smooth look usually coupled with a vibrant grade that keeps his time-lapse work engaging. Although he’s only just starting, we’re so excited to see how Shawn’s time-lapses develop!
