take pictures of things that you would like to take pictures of it might help with the depression that you are going through. find something that make you happy like sunset or ducks or birds or dogs that might help you too

I have had experience with depression and photography and yes it is hard as hell to pick up the camera and go shooting when you feel like crap. My wife used to force me out the door to go and shoot and usually I was glad that I had done it even though I felt bad. Winter pics and barren landscapes are a start, Gnarly stuff works too, never found the joy in my cats at the time but now I am glad for the shots i took of them too.

Just some examples of pix I took while in the midst of major depression and receiving treatment for same

I remember a few years ago I was depressed. Nothing could cheer me up. It really sucked. I didn't want to go out to take pictures, I didn't want to go hiking, my husband trying to make me laugh didn't even work. Nothing worked. I was like this for a few months. Then all of a sudden I was better. What didn't make sense was, nothing changed in my life to have me go from good - depressed - back to good again.

It really sucked. I never want to be depressed like that again.

I know I am really new to photography, but I could never imagine being depressed and having a camera in my hand. I'm too happy snapping pictures all the time.
