May I suggest you reserve a guided tour online? Not because you necessarily want a guide, but because you'll be able to get an exact time to enter, without needing to stand on a line which could easily take 3 hours or more to get you to the door. It is well worth the money! (I've done it both ways...)

:agree: good advice.  We went on the tour and although the wait wasn't 3 hours, it was close to 2.  It is, a must see, so enjoy yourself.

Thanks for the tip guys, we have already booked our entrance into key sites, one of them being the Vatican.
I'm really pumped for this trip, 1 week in Rome, 1 week in Paris.

Thanks again

We didn't buy tickets early and the line was crazy long.  I would guess it was definitely between 2 and 3 hours.  But it was so worth it.  Congrats on the upcoming trip, the Vatican is so beautiful, just like this photos.

You are welcome! Photography restrictions vary, but you won't be able to use any floor based support in most indoor places, nor flash (even though you'll see many using it...) An ISO of ~1000 should get you enough speed for most indoor situations.
May I also suggest you put the Museo Borghese on your MUST see list, if it isn't there already. It has 5 incredible Caravaggios, and Bernini's 4 best sculptures. And the church of San Luigi dei Francesi, steps from Piazza Navona, has three more Caravaggios (if you are a fan, as I am).
And, one of my favorite places:

steps from the Pantheon, which I am sure you will visit.
Report back, and post!

These are beautiful John. #4 is my favorite, that's lovely. I like how you framed each of the various musicians.

Glider, hope you enjoy your trip.

Much appreciated, Sharon! The challenge was the subdued lighting (to protect the frescoes, I guess), which required variously shooting from1/5sec to 1/30sec at ISO 800 to get decent exposures.
