Nice shot but I think it would be better cropped vertically. That would help get rid of the sides where there is minimal information. Nice use of color and light though.

I disagree. I love the fact that it is this blob of colour in this vastness of nothing. I would rather clone out the green leaf at the top to enhance the feeling.

That is the way I saw and made the original shot, and  my point was the contrast between the vivid emerging growth and winter's leavings (BTW, I find the green leaf above strengthens that aspect, sort of like an exclamation point :) ). But I would agree that the closely cropped version is a better image of the flower itself- just a different idea and approach. Thanks all for making an interesting conversation!
